Recipe: The Incredible Hulk

I created this recipe to include in my Whole Health Holiday Survival Guide as it was designed to supercharge your body’s push to detox gnarly toxins, by-products, and cellular waste out of your body. It can speed up your ability to recover from the toxins that come along with alcohol, poor quality food, or stress-induced events that send your cortisol levels up! Sounds like the holidays to me, how about you? This recipe can literally be the difference between you waking up feeling awful OR incredible.

I choose incredible when I have the option.

If you can even get it all down before you head off to sleep at night then, by all means, do it as you will be thankful in the morning (even if you have to get up and pee at some point at night!). When you sleep, your body recovers from the day in two distinct portions, the first four hours and the second four hours. Ideally, you want to be asleep at 9 or 10 pm (or earlier!) when your body's recovery efforts really start kicking in to get the greatest benefits of sleep.

Your nervous system experiences the greatest recovery and repair in the first 4 hours of sleep (typically between 10 pm-2 am) and your organ systems experience their greatest recovery and repair in the second 4 hours of sleep (typically between 2 am-6 am). This is why staying up late makes you feel so mentally sluggish as opposed to going to bed earlier and waking up earlier which can often make you feel more physically sluggish. You need to honor both of these parts of your body's recovery needs to perform and feel your best.

This recipe will help to spur the second portion, or more physical aspect, of your nighttime recovery quite a bit. I encourage you to make this recipe in advance before going to bed to allow the chia seeds to soak (at least 30 minutes). Cheers to feeling incredible!

The Incredible Hulk

Prep Time: 5 min

Yields: 1

Ingredients:

24 oz. of purified, filtered water (I use a Berkey water filter)

2 Tbsp of unsweetened concentrated organic cranberry juice

1 Tbsp of liquid chlorophyll

1 Tbsp of ginger juice

1 Tbsp of organic chia seeds

Juice of half a lemon (or 1-2 drops of Young Living Vitality Lemon Essential Oil)

Optional: 1-5 drops of liquid stevia if you need some sweetener

Instructions:

Combine all the ingredients into a 32-ounce glass mason jar and shake well. If you can, let it sit for at least 15-20 minutes so the chia seeds start to gel. This will make it easier to consume, will hydrate you better, and help your gut and your body detox even better!
