Master Your Movements

Whether you are streaming online workout programs, using an app on your phone, or exercising based on a specific program that I or another fitness professional may have created, you are working to achieve the best possible form for each movement. And proper form leads to increased strength, improved skills, greater efficiency with less effort, and of course, practicing good form keeps you from getting injured!

No matter where you exercise, it is difficult to assess and correct your own form and progress. Over the years, I have hired a number of other trainers and coaches to help me with tips and corrections on the most fundamental movements, especially my kettlebell swing, deadlift, and Turkish get-up. I, like you, am a student, and like I tell my clients, there is no end or finish line to this exercise thing, there is only better, and then even better.

It is way too easy to fall into poor, bad, and straight-up incorrect exercise and movement patterns. Despite what you may have heard, muscles don’t have memory. So, muscle memory, yeah, that doesn’t exist. But your brain/central nervous system does have memory and they are the drivers of your movement patterns.

The last thing you want to practice is incorrect, faulty, or poor movement patterns when you are dedicating all the time that you are to exercising and training. If you do, then you end up practicing a movement incorrectly for hundreds and thousands of times which then takes hundreds and thousands of repetitions to correct as far as your brain and nervous system are concerned.
To state the obvious, this is inefficient training.

And it creates compensation patterns in your body that take a very long time to correct if ever are AND they create new problems that need to be addressed sooner than later. This is exactly why a 20-year old right ankle sprain can develop into a right hip and eventually a left shoulder problem down the road. Weird and cool at the same time, right? The body is amazing at compensating.

Let me help you train smarter, more efficiently

As a movement specialist trained in corrective exercise assessment and prescription, I can help you save time and effort and give you the external feedback you need on an exercise or movement.  All you need to do is send me videos of you doing the exercise or movement you would like me to critique.

  • Take a front video view of you doing 3-5 reps.

  • Take a RIGHT side video view of you doing 3-5 reps.

  • Take a LEFT side video view of you doing 3-5 reps.

  • Finally, take a back video view of you doing 3-5 reps.

Take as much time as you need to rest between sets if you are doing heavy or combination movements that require a lot of nervous system activation such as a Turkish get-up.

I will review your videos and provide coaching through email that will include:

  • Corrections and adjustments to your form

  • Suggestions for modifications or substitutions (if needed)

  • Feedback on intensity

  • Tips for progressions (if needed)

I can provide you with coaching whether you are using free weights, kettlebells, dumbbells, exercise bands, a TRX suspension training system, stability balls, a BOSU, or bodyweight.  The exercises can be strength, core-specific, or mobility-based movements.

After I send you your report and coaching info you have the opportunity to ask any follow-up questions for clarification.
